What is franchising?

Franchising is a method of distribution. And although many people associate franchising with fast food, franchising is used in over 86 different industries as a means of expansion.

What is an UFOC?

The offering and sale of franchises is governed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and in some states, by state law. The UFOC, which stands for Uniform Franchise Offering Circular, is a document that franchisors are required to provide to all prospective franchises. It spells out the terms of the franchise agreement and provides information about the franchise concept and the franchisor to prospective franchise buyers. It is similar to a stock or investment prospectus. If you are seriously considering becoming a franchisee, we strongly recommend that you read the UFOC, cover to cover and have it reviewed by a qualified franchise attorney.

What am I buying when I buy a franchise?

We are the sole owner of trademark and our operating system. As a franchisee, you are buying the right to use our trademark, trade dress and our operating system. And, we train you in how to do so. You must also agree to operate according to our standards.

What is PieZoni's®?

PieZoni's® is a neighborhood restaurant. At the center of our menu is our "Bar Pie" so named because it traces it's origin to Massachusetts taverns. It's called a bar pie because it has a 10' round thin crust which made it perfect for eating at a tavern - just the right amount of food and an easy to handle size. We have proprietary recipes for both our sauces and our dough which are heads and tails above out competitors and have enabled us to create a loyal following among our repeat customers.

What are you looking for in a franchisee?

In order to establish a strong brand, we are very selective about whom we accept into our franchise system. It is critical that all franchisees work together and follow the system that we have developed. We want people who are passionate about our concept, who enjoy the business, who can hire, motivate and manage hourly employees, strong customer service skills, and who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty.

What does training cost?

We don't charge a fee for any of the initial training. However you are required to pay your and your employees expenses for attending the training. These include travel, hotels, food, etc. --- but there's always plenty to eat at the restaurant.

What will I learn during training?

Our program is very comprehensive. It includes classroom and actual hands-on experience in one of our restaurants. Of course you'll learn how to prepare the menu items, open, close and operate the restaurant but you'll also learn what makes a PieZoni's® profitable, how to hire and train staff, how to market and set your prices. And, the classes are taught by those of us who have spent a lot of time working in our restaurants - so it's not just theory we're teaching, it's real life.

What is an Operating Principal?

If you form a company or a partnership to operate your PieZoni's® business then you must select someone from your group to be the Operating Principal. That person will be responsible for making decisions regarding the franchise on behalf of the group and that is the person that we will deal with for your franchise.

Who are PieZoni's® customers?

That's easy. Everyone. Our extensive menu makes it a great place for people who love a thin crust pizza and people who'd prefer any of our other wonderful dishes. It's great for a quick meal or to bring the family. We also do a lot of carry-out business.

How long does the agreement last?

The initial term is 10 years.

How much money can I make?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) governs the manner in which companies that offer franchises provide prospective franchisees with earnings projections since there is no way to know for sure how any one franchisee or location will perform. The only information that any franchisor can provide is what is included in Item 19 of their UFOC. A lot will depend on how good a location you have, your local competition, your willingness to work and your ability to manage the business. Our system has been tested and proven and we will give you the tools you need to be successful but a lot is up to you. Our training program is very comprehensive and provides you with both classroom and practical work experience. And, of course, we'll be on-site with you as you open for up to 5 days.
